EA Releases 25 Classic PC Games on Steam, Including Road Rash, Wing Commander

Electronic Arts has released 25 classic PC games on Steam, including seven Anniversary Editions covering Road Rash and the Wing Commander series. The launch also brings 18 additional titles to Steam for the first time.

The seven Anniversary Editions feature updates for modern PC systems, including improvements to controls, performance, and compatibility. EA has also restored more than 1,500 cinematic sequences across these releases using original video materials recovered from its archives.

The restoration project began after the company located a collection of physical media containing thousands of Betacam, VHS, and D1 tapes. The materials included master full-motion video recordings previously believed to be lost. The team digitized the recovered footage and re-edited it for the new editions.

EA also worked with the Wing Commander community to incorporate existing fan-made modifications into the official Anniversary Editions. Players who already own digital copies of the affected Wing Commander games through GOG or the EA App will receive the corresponding upgrades for free on those platforms.
