Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls released Phoenix Cyclops this week. Unfortunately, his famous blue and yellow classic outfit will not be included regardless of getting Ultimate Edition to net the Year 1 DLC. The costume itself is sold separately at $4.99 USD. A surprising move since the costume itself is iconic. Then again, Phoenix Cyclops’ kit differs greatly thanks to the magic of Arc System Works.
Phoenix Cyclops has his first run as a fighting game character, but his base form has had his fair share of fisticuffs. It feels odd to not include classic without having to pay for it additionally on top of even that of Ultimate Edition. Traditionally, acquiring a character through a DLC pass would incur this, but Marvel Tokon is doing things a little differently.
• Added the new playable character, Phoenix Cyclops.
• Added his battle music “Fallen Phoenix,” lobby avatar, profile customization items, and gallery content.
• Added the “PHOENIX CYCLOPS” Arena Course to All-Star Arena, and the Phoenix Cyclops Support Soul to Survival in All-Star Arena.
• Added the Phoenix Cyclops Fighter Soul to Arcadia Rumble.
• These items are available in each mode after purchasing either the MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls Ultimate Edition, Digital Deluxe Edition, the Year 1 Character & Stage Pass or Phoenix Cyclops DLC.
In a bit of a wildcard, Marvel Tokon released new “old school” skins for the base roster for PS Plus Members, as well as Magik’s new skin, to celebrate Cyclops’ arrival.

Meanwhile, Arc System Works has addressed more PC issues that have gamers stuck when it comes to getting Phoenix Cyclops to come out to play. The game doesn’t refresh this right away even on PlayStation 5, in which I verified, but it seems as though the team is on it.

• Added the Benchmark Test feature to check the game’s performance within your PC environment before playing online.
• Players that pass the benchmark may use this as a filter in online matchmaking to play with others who have also passed it.
• The shader warmup is now required upon launching the game.
• Made adjustments to improve the stability and consistency of online matches, helping reduce unexpected interruptions and disruptions during gameplay for the PC version.
As for the changelog, it’s a huge one. Captain America, Black Panther, Magik, Danger, Spider-Man, Star-Lord, Peni Parker, Ghost Rider, Blade, Loki, Deadpool, Magneto, Green Goblin, Carnage and Champion, get minor fixes to their gameplay, also. Assists have been altered to balance things out, also.
